Frequently Asked Questions

What does each bracket type mean?
  • Single Elimination: Players have 1 life, when they lose they lose
  • Double Elimination: Players have 2 lives, when they lose they move to a bracket with the losers where if they lose again, they’re out
  • Round Robin: Everyone in the tournament plays everyone else in the tournament
  • Swiss: Everyone in the tournament plays each other, but winners are paired with winners, losers are paired with losers
  • FFA/Race: Every participant enters their own score, results are displayed in a leaderboard in ascending or descending fashion
  • Group Stage: Tournament lobby is split into different groups where there are mini round robins. This is great to then take the top X participants to an elimination bracket.
What is the entry portal?
  • The entry portal is where users can Single Elimination: Players have 1 life, when they lose they lose. register, spectate, and leave a tournament. This must be done by Admins in the #admin channel with the Publish button
How do I manage my Tournament?
  • Modify your tournament in the #admin channel. If you can’t find the embed, type /config
How do I see my current leaderboard ranking setup?
  • Players are given roles when they hit set customisable points on your leaderboard. View the current configuration in /leaderboard config <leaderboard_name>. Delete rankings with /leaderboard ranking <leaderboard_name> <points> (do not specify a role)
What happens when I delete a tournament?
  • When you use the Delete button or type /delete. All channels/categories/roles that Tourney Bot created will be deleted. If you delete the tournament after it’s finished and have published the results, those results won’t be deleted.
How do I enter or watch a tournament?
  • Click the Register button to join a tournament or use the Spectate button to watch it progress.
How do I setup a team for a tournament?
  • If a tournament requires teams, the person who clicks the Register button will specify the Team Name and Team Roster
  • Team Captains are the only ones registered to the tournament, the participants can then join as a spectator
How do I know when my matches are and who my opponent is?
  • When the tournament starts the bracket will be sent to #bracket.
  • When your match is live, you’ll be pinged in a thread in the #chat channel. Score the match with /score or click the Score button
A match was scored wrong, what do I do?
  • Click “Re-Open” on the match in the #results channel and score it again in the match thread
What are seeds?
  • Seeds are an ID associated to a player to determine their position in the tournament. Typically, you want to assign the lowest seed (1/2/3/4) to the best players in your tournament. The bot will then ensure these players are kept away from each other so the tournament doesn’t have a terrible matchup, and a smoother experience.
  • If you want to put a specific player against another player (which isn’t highly recommended), you can by assigning seeds and using /preview to check.
  • By default, your tournament will have randomised seeds, you can check this and shuffle them again with /seeds
